Sarah Hickingbottom

Dr Sarah Hickingbottom brings 15 years global commercial experience to her role as BioVale CEO. A role which matches her dedication to building a circular bioeconomy fit to face our climate emergency and resources challenges with BioVale’s mission to bridge the gulf between R&D and the commercialisation of bioeconomy innovation in Yorkshire, Humber, UK and beyond. Sarah has expertise along the bio-based value-chain from commodity crops and biomass through to their end-use markets via intermediate chemicals. Her unique 360° perspective leverages a fruitful, decade-long partnership at LMC International which combined her commercial chemicals experience with LMC’s world-renowned agricultural economics and forecasting. Sarah earnt her Chemistry BSc from Imperial (including an ERASMUS year at the Institut für Organische Chemie in Hannover, Germany) and then moved to UCLA to study for her PhD with Sir J. Fraser Stoddart.
