Merja Penttilä

Merja is Research Professor at VTT. Her main responsibility is to advance science and technology in the fields of Industrial Biotechnology and Synthetic biology. At VTT this research consists of ~90 people, with expertise in metabolic engineering, protein production, plant biotechnology, metabolomics, enzymology, synthetic biology, and bioprocessing. She is adjunct professor at Aalto University and Co-PI of the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Molecular Engineering of Biosynthetic Hybrid Materials Research (HYBER).
