Mauricio Lopes

Mauricio Lopes is senior scientist and executive with 35 years of professional experience at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation – Embrapa, one of the largest agricultural research organizations in the world. He worked as a maize breeder, R&D manager, Executive Director of R&D and President, for two successive terms (2012-2018). He holds the Ordre du Mérite Agricole, conferred by the French Republic and the title of “Doctor Honoris Causa” by Purdue University, USA. He is currently a member of the advisory board to the Director General of FAO/Rome and a senior scientist at Embrapa Agroenergy, in Brasília, promoting the integration of agriculture and the emerging Bioeconomy.
