Joachim von Braun

Joachim von Braun is Professor for Economic and Technological Change and a Director of the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at Bonn University, Germany. He served as Co-Chair of the German Bioeconomy Council and is an initiator of the Global Bioeconomy Summits. He is President of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences at the Vatican. von Braun is further Board member of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), and of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), and he is Vice President of Welthungerhilfe. From 2002 to 2009 he was Director General of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). He received his doctoral degree in agricultural economics from the University of Goettingen, Germany.
