Yoshihide Esaki

Deputy Director-General for Science, Technology and Innovation at Cabinet Office

Yoshihide ESAKI is Deputy Director-General for Science, Technology and Innovation and Deputy Director-General for Nuclear Energy Policy at Cabinet Office since July 2020. He entered the former Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI, current METI) in 1989. His experience at METI covers variety of fields, such as finance and energy policy. He has also joined in the planning of the financial system reform at Ministry of Finance and in the drafting of the Personal Information Protection Act at Cabinet Secretariat, seconded from METI. Previously to current position, he had been the Deputy Director-General for Healthcare and Medical Policy at Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, at Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare and at Cabinet Secretariat since 2017.
